Jan 19, 2018

Newly elected Nassau County Executive Laura Curran recently addressed members of the Long Island Board of REALTORS® at their Annual Nassau County Divisional Meeting held on January 18, 2018 at the Garden City Hotel.

The former two-time County legislator and first female elected to this office gave an overview of the financial challenges that Nassau County faces in the near future. She also focused on revisiting the HUB proposal in Uniondale to include retail, housing and a large parking facility to free up much of the concrete that currently serves as a parking lot.

The County Executive also reported that she has been in recent talks with Governor Cuomo to try and have the Islanders play out the remaining seasons at the revamped Nassau Coliseum. The Islanders will eventually play in a new arena at Belmont Race Track that will create thousands of jobs.

She ended her comments by stating that she looks forward to working with the real estate community to bring greatness back to Nassau County.

This meeting also served as the installation of 2018 Nassau Chapter Officers and Directors by LIBOR Past President David Legaz, presentation of Chapter Distinguished Service Awards and acknowledgment of 2017 Chapter Officers and Directors by host Susan Helsinger, 2017/2018 LIBOR Nassau Vice President
