Long Island Board of REALTORS® Named Honoree of Long Island Business News' Corporate Citizenship Awards

Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR), a leading regional REALTOR® trade association that serves 28,000 real estate professionals throughout Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties, has been named an honoree of Long Island Business News’ Corporate Citizenship Award in the category of Professional Organization of the Year.

The Corporate Citizenship Award program recognizes companies and individuals who believe that by being a good corporate citizen we contribute to the economic and social well-being of our employees, businesses and the community. Honorees consistently prove that true community stewardship evolves through building strong partnerships with nonprofit organizations and others that strive to meet the critical needs of our community.

LIBOR is committed to making a difference in our communities and touching lives in the neighborhoods in which our members serve. In an effort to inform and inspire our community to help those in need, LIBOR created the “We’re More Than REALTORS®” (WMTR) public relations campaign in 2006.

Over the past fifteen years the campaign has supported numerous philanthropic and community programs across Long Island and the nation — from sponsoring the building of Habitat for Humanity homes yearly, to constructing wheelchair ramps for the disabled with Rebuilding Together Long Island, to actively opposing any public policies that impede homeownership opportunities.  Each year LIBOR members ardently dedicate their time and energy to support these initiatives, helping to make Long Island a better place to live.

In 2020 alone, LIBOR was able to support community hunger relief programs across Long Island as part of the REALTORS® Against Hunger (RAH) initiative; the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless (LICH) Backpack Pirates program, which gives back to hundreds of homeless and economically disadvantaged youth; Rebuilding Together Long Island (RTLI) and Rebuilding Together New York City (RT NYC) to aid with veteran housing initiatives; Queens and the Town of Huntington with hand sanitizing stations for their local parks, playgrounds and beaches; deserving New York Eagle Scouts and Gold Girl Scouts with the REALTOR® Scouting Scholarship program; and the REALTOR® Relief Fund, which provides direct housing assistance to individuals and families in disaster hit areas.

“Long Island Board of REALTORS® is proud to be recognized for something that is a pillar and deep commitment within our association - giving back,” said LIBOR President Susan Helsinger. “LIBOR has a long history of community partnerships and volunteerism.  As REALTORS®, it is our livelihood to support and assist those in need in the communities in which we serve.”
