The Long Island Board of REALTORS® Inc. (LIBOR) 6th Annual Long Island and Queens Open House Weekend was a huge success this past weekend, April 18 and 19, 2015, with thousands of open houses held across the island. 

Spring is typically a busy season when it comes to home buying especially after the extreme weather conditions that this winter brought.  To kick-off the season, the Open House Weekend was organized by the Long Island Board of Realtors® in an effort to unite REALTORS® as they host thousands of open houses, while engaging consumers on the benefits of homeownership and bringing buyers and sellers together.

The Long Island and Queens REALTOR® Open House Weekend offered buyers a stress-free way to visit homes for sale in different neighborhoods where they might want to live. For sellers, the weekend provided a high-visibility effort to promote traffic and drive home sales.

Also proving to be a big hit for the weekend was the Open House Weekend Give-away Sweepstakes of $1,500.  In an effort to motivate would be buyers to attend open houses that weekend, LIBOR offered a give-away of $1,500 to three (one in Nassau, Suffolk and Queens counties) lucky Open House attendees. Although there was no purchase necessary to enter the sweepstakes, we hope that the recipients use the funds towards the purchase of their new home. Donna Wolfe, the Chairperson of the LIBOR Public Relations committee, together with Vice Chairperson Matthew Arnold, selected the winners, on Tuesday, April 21, 2015.

Congratulations to the Open House Weekend $1,500 Give-away Sweepstakes winners: Suffolk - Gail DiGuglielmo who attended an open house in Bohemia, held by Realty Connect; Nassau - Craig Gootman who attended an open house in New Hyde Park, held by Keller Williams Realty Gold Coast; Queens - Dorothy Nolan Shaw who attended an open house in Astoria, held by Laffey Fine Homes.

In its sixth year, the REALTOR® Open House Weekend has been proven successful since its inception.  With print, television, radio and social media advertising, it is a marketing extravaganza; which in turn, drives traffic to your listings.  LIBOR looks forward to supporting all of their members and is proud to contribute to your success by creating events that promote homeownership.
