Suffolk South Shore REALTORS® Aid in COVID-19 Relief Efforts with Contributions to Local Community Outreach Organizations

The Suffolk South Shore Chapter (SSSC) of Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) recently contributed $2,000 to support local community organizations in their efforts to aid individuals and families who have been adversely affected by the ongoing public health crisis. The contributions were equally divided between four Suffolk County, NY based organizations - Branches Long Island, Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, Nobody Starves on Long Island and Pronto of Long Island.

The Suffolk South Shore Chapter of LIBOR covers the area of southern Suffolk County between Amityville and Connetquot River State Park.  As an extension of the Association, Chapters provide information, education, networking and charitable opportunities to REALTORS® in 13 geographic areas across Long Island.

Leadership from the Chapter had the opportunity to deliver the donations in person, to meet with representatives of each organization and discus their immediate needs in serving those most vulnerable in the community during these challenging times.

The first of the contributions was presented to Branches Long Island by SSSC past president Ed Ryan and 2021 secretary Paige Ryan.  Branches Long Island is a non-profit organization run by volunteers who supply necessities to those in need, advocate for those who may not have a voice and empower those who need to be uplifted in a time of crisis.

SSSC past president and current director Richard Bocchieri presented the second donation to Pronto of Long Island, a non-profit community outreach center in Bay Shore, NY.  Established in 1969, Pronto of Long Island provides Long Islanders in need, with food, clothing, furniture, and the hope for a better future.

Nobody Starves on Long Island received the third contribution which was presented by SSSC president elect Joelle Siemers. Nobody Starves on Long Island is a non-profit organization that assists pets of low-income families, feeders of feral cat colonies, abandoned dogs and other animal welfare, and when applicable; rescues, fosters, and adopts out companion animals in dire circumstances that cannot remain in the home they are in.

SSSC past president and current director Judy Cangemi had the privilege to present to the fourth beneficiary, the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, whose mission is to eliminate homelessness on Long Island and improve the lives of Long Islanders who are homeless or facing homelessness.

“We are more than REALTORS®, we are active members of our communities, committed to helping our neighbors in need,” said LIBOR President Susan Helsinger. “The Suffolk South Shore Chapter exemplifies this commitment by supporting these remarkable local organizations in bringing hope and assistance to those who are in dire need during these trying times.”
