New York 32 - Hour Remedial Broker Qualifying Course

The 32 hour Remedial Salesperson Qualifying course is now being offered through the Long Island Board of REALTORS®.

Who is required to take the 32 Hour Remedial Broker Qualifying Course?

If you completed the 45 Hour Sales Qualifying Course PRIOR to July 1, 2008 and DID NOT apply for your real estate license on or before June 30, 2008, you will need to complete the 30 Hour Remedial Gap Licensing Course before submitting your license application to the Department of State.

Why is the 32 Hour Remedial Broker Qualifying Course Needed?

New York State passed a law increasing the education requirement for a broker license from a 45 hour course to a 75 hour course, effective December 21, 2022. The 32 Hour Remedial Broker Qualifying Course is necessary to "bridge the gap" to meet the new 75 hour course requirement needed as of December 21, 2022. This course will satisfy the additional 32 hours now needed to apply for a NYS real estate license.

The 32-Hour Broker Remedial course is designed for broker liecense applicants who sucessfully completed the 75-hour salesperson licensing course and the 45-hour broker licensing course prior to December 21, 2022. It contains 32 hours of supplemental contentthat is required for new broker applicants today to meet the state requirement of 152 hours. Topics range from broker supervision and structure, onboarding and training, investment analysis and risk management, and fair housing.

No state exam is given for the 32 Hour Remedial Broker Qualifying Course, however, students must pass a in-person proctored classroom exam.

Those passing the exam will earn 22.5 NYS continuing education credits as well.
