Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) is proud to announce the launch of our inaugural LIBOR Leadership Academy. LIBOR's Leadership Academy is a year-long immersive program designed to identify, prepare, and inspire emerging leaders for a future in volunteer leadership within the REALTOR® association and community. LIBOR members with demonstrated leadership abilities, who are committed to excellence in their careers and are passionate about the real estate industry, are encouraged to apply.

LIBOR offers accepted members an opportunity to participate in this exclusive program, which provides participants with the essential skills, knowledge, and confidence to become effective leaders at LIBOR, and within your community. The Leadership Academy will familiarize members with all aspects of LIBOR’s business to build a strong foundation for progression into leadership roles.

Each Leadership Academy session consists of twelve (12) members who will begin their journey together and cultivate lasting relationships while developing, enhancing, and honing their leadership skills for future collaboration. Members will work on team-based projects, attend LIBOR events together, engage in field assignments, and interact with industry experts to help maximize their leadership potential.

For the first year, a Dean shall be appointed for one year to serve as a mentor and sounding board for the class and recruit applications for the following year.  At the end of the first year, the class shall designate from among their classmate, one (1) person to serve as Dean the following year.

Candidate Criteria

• Must hold an active real estate license.
• Must be a member in good standing with LIBOR.
• Letter of recommendation required.
• Enthusiasm and desire to grow your leadership skills.
• Payment of $600 is due within one (1) week of acceptance. This fee includes, in addition to entrance into the Leadership Academy, the following benefits:
  • Admittance into the 2023 LIBOR Education Conference
  • Travel accommodations for REALTOR® Lobby Day
  • Admittance into the 2024 LIBOR Installation and Awards Event

• Committed and available to participate in all sessions and attend required events.

You may be overqualified if you:

Serve(d) on the Board of Directors for LIBOR, National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), or Multiple Listing Service of Long Island (MLSLI).

Members are accepted through a competitive application process that prioritizes a commitment to association and industry leadership and personal and professional development. Applications will be reviewed and appointments will be made by the current LIBOR Executive Committee..
