Almost everyone has been touched by breast cancer, in some way. Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in the US (excluding skin cancer) and is second only lung cancer, as a cause of cancer death in women.
Twenty-five years ago, 2,500 Long Islanders took action and walked at Long Island’s first ever Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event hosted at Eisenhower Park. Because of the passion and importance of this topic in particular, Long Island’s walk quickly grew to being the largest Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk in the country. Each year Long Islanders continue to raise millions of dollars annually directly funding lifesaving research, promoting education, early detection, as well as providing comprehensive patient support for those in need of it.
Through the “We’re More than REALTORS®…” campaign LIBOR is proud to sponsor this year’s 25th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks hosted on:
October 21, 2018 at Jones Beach State Park
October 28, 2018 at Suffolk County Community College, Eastern Campus
Each event is a noncompetitive 3 to 5-mile walk that brings thousands of people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer.
In our midst we have many who have bravely fought this disease and are valiant survivors living full, vibrant lives! It is our hope that all LIBOR members will use this opportunity to join with us and The American Cancer Society to provide the teamwork and resources needed to help make the 25th Anniversary of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer a banner year! Please join us as we support this mighty effort and help us celebrate twenty-five years of progress in work towards defeating this disease.
To register as a walker on team LIBOR for either or both walks, or to make a donation, please visit: www.makingstrideswalk.org/LIRealtor.
