REALTOR® Bettie Meinel Installed as 2014 President of the Long Island Board of REALTORS®


November 27, 2013 - West Babylon, NY - The Long Island Board of REALTORS® Inc. (LIBOR) has named Bettie Meinel of Laffey Fine Homes, as 2014 Board President.  Bettie was sworn into office by fellow REALTOR® and good friend Marilyn Urso. The installation took place during the association’s recent Installation Gala held at the Crest Hollow Country Club.  Bettie will serve as the 73rd President of the Long Island Board of REALTORS®.

Bettie has been a member of LIBOR since 1991 and has been active in a diverse number of roles throughout these years. Bettie currently serves as LIBOR President- elect, and previously served as Nassau Vice President and Secretary on the Executive Committee over the past five years. She has served on the Board of Directors intermittently since 1997.

Bettie has been a licensed Associate Broker for the past 25 years, selling homes and marketing homes from Queens to Setauket.  Currently, Bettie is in charge of training and recruiting for Laffey Fine Homes. She develops and oversees all the training and works with the managerial team on the companies recruiting efforts. Bettie strongly believes in education and holds the CRS, CBR, CRB, GRI, SRES ePro and ITI real estate designations.

On the Division level, Bettie served as President for the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR) in 2002. She has since been named a lifetime member and has been honored with the distinguished WCR REALTOR® of the Year award.  Bettie also served as a Nassau North Shore Chapter Director. Bettie has served on many committees at LIBOR, NYSAR and NAR, to name a few: Education (which she chaired for two consecutive years) Legislative, Member Services, Budget and Finance, Public Relations, Bylaws, Professional Standards, Grievance and the Fair Housing and Cultural Diversity committee.  Bettie also serves as a Director for the New York State Association of REALTORS® and National Association of REALTORS®.

Community involvement is important to Bettie as well. She supports a number of charities such as Easter Seals, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, and local food banks.  Bettie has been known to bring her love for gardening and “green thumb” to many LIBOR volunteer projects with Rebuilding Together and MillionTrees NYC.

Bettie has her "finger on the pulse" as she continues to be active in the real estate market day to day. With over 25 years in the business she has been an agent, manager, recruiter, trainer, and volunteer. All of these experiences and knowledge she will use throughout her presidency and for the betterment of the board and its members.
