Overcoming Historical Policies & Practices in the Quest for Fair Housing

 

Description

This 3-hour course covers the body of federal law, New York State and local laws prohibiting discrimination in housing and real-estate related transactions. The historical role of government reinforced racial segregation in housing is examined to promote a better understanding as to how historical policies & practices have ongoing impacts perpetuating barriers to fair housing and racial economic inequities, and what more can be done to address these barriers.

After this presentation participants will:

• Know the federal, New York State and local laws prohibiting housing discrimination

• Understand the historical role of government in reinforcing racial segregation and consider how historical

policies & practices still have fair housing impacts

• Examine New York State’s recent legislative response to combat fair housing violations

• Consider how barriers to fair and equitable housing can be addressed going forward

Approved for 3 Hours NYS CE Credit (also satisfies 3 Hours of Dept of State Mandated Fair Housing Requirement)

Cancellation Policy for LIBOR courses:

Full refund will be issued if cancellation is made 3 or more business days prior to class. NO REFUNDS if cancellation is less than 3 business days, instead Education Credit will be issued for use within one year of cancellation. Students who do not show for class will LOSE entire tuition. LIBOR reserves the right to cancel class if minimum enrollments is not met. If LIBOR needs to cancel or delay a class due to inclement weather or emergency, information will be posted on LIREALTOR.com AFTER 7:00 am and also on our automated voice mail message system on 631-661-4800, also AFTER 7:00 am

Attendance Policy for LIBOR Courses

If the class is approved for NYS CE: LIBOR strictly follows Section 176.6 of the NYS License Law – Article 12A. Students are only permitted to miss 10% of classroom time. If more than 10% of class time is missed for any reason, NYS continuing education credits will not be issued. All New York licensing classes follow the same law for permissible time missed.

Cancellation Policy for NAR Designation courses:

A cancellation 10 or more days before a class is subject to a $25 fee. No refund is available for a cancellation made within 10 days of class or for a no-show.”
